Four Ways to Store Your Long Line

Keeping your long line organised makes it easier to transport, quicker to deploy and less likely to become tangled between trails. There isn't a single right way to store a long line, and most handlers settle on a method that suits the way they train. Here are four simple approaches to try:

1. The Loops

Probably the most common way to store a long line. Coil the line into loops as you normally would before or after a trail. Wrap the Line Tidy around the top of the loops twice and fasten it with the popper. This keeps the loops together while allowing the line to be deployed quickly when you're ready to work.

2. The Bunch

If you're packing away quickly between trails, this is a simple and effective option. Wrap the line around your arm in larger loops, gather them together and secure them around the middle with the Line Tidy. If you prefer, clip the line's hook onto the tidy for additional security.

3. The Oval Roll

Starting at the clip end, wrap the line into a flat oval shape. Pass the Line Tidy through the centre and fasten it with the popper. This creates a tidy bundle that's easy to store and transport.

4. The Classic Roll

Starting at the tail end, coil the line neatly around itself. Once rolled, pass the Line Tidy through the centre of the coil and fasten it using the popper at the clip end. This creates a compact roll that's ideal if you like everything stored neatly.

A Handy Tip

While your long line is in use, keep the Line Tidy somewhere easy to reach. Wear it around your wrist, attach it to a belt loop or pop it into a pocket so it's ready when you need to pack your line away.
